"The SD780IS is a work of art, and I certainly don't say that lightly. I am a technician for a camera store and everyday I am going over the features of cameras for our customers.

Early Spring, when the Canon sd780is was introduced, I only had to glance at it, and the features, to know that this mighty mite would sell like "hotcakes!" Guess what, we sold all of our original shipment over a weekend!!

It is difficult to describe the quality of the build without actually handling the camera. You have to feel the camera in your hand to experience what all our customers are raving about. 90 out of 100 customers I demonstrate the camera to want to purchase once they've held it.

Please understand, the SD780IS is not much bigger than a deck of playing cards. We're talking TINY! People love it's shape and form. The lcd screen is 2.5, with great resolution. However, in a perfect world, the screen would be 3.0.

The problem is simply that a larger screen would make the camera much bigger. The same ergonomic issue exists with the 3x zoom. Ideally, you would want some more power, but not at the expense of size.

The Digic IV processor and iSAPS technology produces great speed and precision accuracy. This cool feature is always monitoring what you are focusing on, and providing feedback.

The face recognition is quick and precise. Basically, it tracks any subject that has a face on it, regardless of whether they are moving or not. VERY cool! Really, it is a pleasure to do this SD780IS review. The bottom line is that I love the sd780is, and so do my customers!

"When I was asked to do this SD780IS review, I didn't hesitate!

Pictures of the SD780is don't do it justice in terms of size. I saw the camera online and never used it in a store. Amazing as it may seem, it is about like an average size business card and has the width of an average deck of playing cards.

I'm female, however, I hadn't considered an ELPH-size Canon camera before because they appeared to be too little. I did test however, the Panasonic dmc-zs3, but it isn't quite as small. I truly thought that finding and handling the various buttons would be a hassle. Or, possibly it would be too difficult to hold on to.

Frankly, that has never been a problem with the SD780IS. The brushed metal finish allows users to get a good grip. The buttons are also intelligently located. The handy wrist strap is excellent protection such that you should never drop your camera.

SMART AUTO feature is a wonder! It is ideal for closeup (macro) shots, or when I don't want to mess with the settings. Regardless of the distance from my subject, the camera self adjusts the settings.

Observing it work is a real kick!. I press the shutter button just a little ways to see where the camera is pointed and move it to focus on my subject. The camera automatically chooses one of the pre-programmed modes that produces the best image.

As you may have heard before, the pictures taken with the Canon sd780is are excellent because of the 12.1 mega pixel resolution, Digic 4, and the image stabilizer.

This features is truly a God send for taking shots of squirmy kids or pets that won't sit still. It is especially great for me because I don't have steady hands. Pictures couldn't be sharper as I anxiously watch them in the clear 2.5inch LCD."
